David Ernest Duke (born July 1, 1950) is an American politician, writer, and professor who ran for U.S. President as a Democrat in 1988, and was elected to Louisiana House of Representatives from 1989 to 1992 as a member of the Republican Party. He also ran competitive campaigns for US Senate and Governor of Louisiana in 1990 and 1991. In 2013, the Anti-Defamation League called Duke "perhaps America's most well-known racist and anti-Semite”. He is one of the only people still permanently banned from Twitter.
